REFLECTIONS

Since 1969, the National PTA Reflections Program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in
American schools overseas to explore their artistic talents.  Last year, throughout California, 65,000 students participated in Reflections. PTA believes that all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participating in its annual Reflections Program.  Reflections offers and challenges students in preschool through grade 12 to create original works of art inspired by a specific student inspired theme, and students submit entries to a local PTA or PTSA school in good standing.  This year’s theme is “Diversity Means…”

Nationally, the program has six art areas – Dance, Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts (which include art forms such as drawing, painting, print making and collage) – and four grade divisions – Primary, Intermediate, Middle/Junior and Senior.
Parents, teachers, and community members play a critical role in providing a positive learning environment for children.  Supporting the Reflections Program is one way you can increase student achievement, foster student talents, and promote arts in your home, school and community.
