PTAs may consider. They are listed in order of application due dates. Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant applications due October 1, 2011; December
1, 2011; February 1, 2012; and June 1, 2012.
The National Dairy Council, in partnership with the National
Football League, developed Fuel Up to Play 60, a free in-school nutrition and physical activity program. Fuel Up to Play 60
is currently accepting applications for funding of up to $4,000 for schools enrolled in the free in-school wellness program.
Funds can be used for a variety of activities and tools, from resources that help enhance students’ healthy
eating habits to items that help schools address students’ physical activity needs.

National
PTA Grassroots Advocacy Training of Trainers Initiative Grant applications due
Wednesday, October 5, 2011, by 5 p.m., EDT. December 9 -10, 2011; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. National PTA Headquarters in
Alexandria, Va.
The purpose of the training of trainers (ToT) is to provide training tools for PTA leaders
and members for executing effective grass-roots advocacy campaigns that promote the National PTA federal public policy agenda.
Ten selected participants will receive a trip to National PTA headquarters, including travel, room, and board, to receive
this great training.

Small
Grant Program for Schools Promoting Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Grant
applications due Oct. 13, 2011.
The U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services’ Office of Minority Health has a small grant program for schools interested in promoting healthy
eating and physical activity. To be eligible, 80 percent or more of students must qualify for federal food programs. Grant
funds are to be used to help schools meet the requirements of the HealthierUS School Challenge, a USDA recognition program.
Five grants of $5,000 each will be awarded. Awardees must agree to participate in an ongoing learning environment. Applications

State PTA grants to consider Combine four California State PTA Grants to support
your PTA programs year- round. Applications are due November 15. Consider free resources from allied agencies to add pizazz
and information to your applications. • Healthy Lifestyles Grant Healthy Lifestyle Grants are available to develop, promote
and implement healthy lifestyles programs, projects and activities that will improve the overall health of children and adults.

Grant Opportunity Next application due date: December 30, 2011
The Chefs Move to Schools Grant was conceptualized by Karin
Endy, chair of The Culinary Trust, and launched in June of 2011 with the founding sponsorship of the California Table Grape
Commission. The goal of the grants is simple: to provide funds to help school children eat right by teaching them about food,
nutrition and cooking. Funds can be used for a wide range of school activities, from starting a kitchen garden to setting
up a salad bar. Culinary professionals and qualified parents or community members may apply for grants of up to $2,500. Applications
for micro-grants are also encouraged.
